Meet Anita
I have been described as an onion! I have lots of layers and you learn more and get to see more when you peel my layers away! Yes, I have been known to make others cry but thankfully, the ‘happy tears’ type.
Born in New Zealand I spent many years of my life growing up playing lots of different sports like gymnastics, soccer, netball, and rugby and danced for many years in both modern and ballet shoes. My other love from a young age was without a doubt, performing and doing many years of TV commercials, theatre, plays, dancing shows, and modeling. I have always juggled a million things at once and love taking what I know and have learned to help other people. However, as adult life emerged and responsibilities changed, I began to pile on the weight and lost a lot of confidence through some personal difficulties and having struggled in the past with anxiety, depression, and very low self-confidence.
How did I overcome that? By CHOOSING to! I signed up for a 12 week transformation program in 2004 which had me following a plan for exercise (weights/cardio) following good sound balanced nutrition and also working on my mindset. I loved it so much and having learned more than I could imagine and having had a wonderful personal trainer many years prior in New Zealand that inspired me that I may love the idea of being one myself one day, it was time to take the plunge, get qualified and start transforming other people!

I know a lot about expat life as I left NZ in 2001 and have spent almost 20 years of my life in the UK with a stint in the Middle East (Doha) for 2 years in between and I understand the importance of connecting with other people but right now connecting is easier and more important than ever.
I have two major careers that I do simultaneously (and I am also doing a course from home in voiceovers!) are both so important to me – acting and everything fitness. I have been a personal trainer for nearly 15 years with my own private studio and in that time I have trained people as young as 14 and adults as old as 71 from needs such as fat loss and body transformations, prepping for an international and national sporting event, learning to stand up out of a wheelchair and take a few steps again, to help to get a client ready for a special occasion or just learning how to safely train and eat in a way that can be sustained for LIFE.
I believe that fitness is for everyone and that everyone should have access to doing something they love to stay fit and healthy! My approach is to remove the barriers, endeavour to make it fun (even for ‘gym haters’!) and I truly believe it is never too late and you are never too old to look after yourself.I have two major careers that I do simultaneously (and I am also doing a course from home in voiceovers!) are both so important to me – acting and everything fitness. Through acting, I met Holly Renaut as she is my accent coach and she asked me to get involved with the LOVE Yourself Project. Since we have been in lockdown Holly has been a total trooper joining in on my zoom live classes doing Home Bootcamp, HIIT and Resistance Training so she has had a taste of what its like to be trained by me, albeit virtually!
Over the next 21 days I will bring you a tri-set of videos (one a week) to help show you a snippet of what YOU can achieve in times like this to stay fit, healthy and connected at home whether you are on your own or living with others. Our homes can be anything we want them to be! Mine is a space for fitness, progress, self-love and growth. My ‘home gym’ (aka: my conservatory!) is something that transforms with me. It is a space where I do weights, cardio, share the joy of fitness, dancing, music and laughter with my husband, look after my clients while my studio is closed, do yoga, meditation, stretching and ballet classes! It is my ‘home gym’ for my mind as much as my body and depending on the task for the day I either light candles or fairy lights or blare out some tunes while I pump weights.

Your own home gym does not have to be bigger than the size of a yoga mat and so much can be done in such a small space to transform your body and your mind and the wonderful thing is its just incredible how these things can have a huge impact on the other areas of your life including personal, family and professional. I am here to help show you a few ways that you can do just that.
We have all had to adapt and change in this lockdown period but with a little creativity, curiosity, and connectivity, we can come out of all of this with a ton of great new healthy habits in ways you probably have never imagined having connected with people all around the world who just like you, want to be happier, better and come out of lockdown full of LIFE!
