How to Write a Love Letter to Yourself
We often think of expressing love for others, but rarely do we take a moment to express self-love to ourselves. As it turns out, taking a moment for some reflective writing has proven benefits – decresing anxiety, increasing creativity and boosting confidence.
In 2021, I had the pleasure of meeting and collaborating with Author and Wellness & Wellbeing Ambassador, Diana Mereu. As a recently released author, Diana’s innate creativity is well reflected in her debut book, where she discloses a part of her soul creating a manifesto on self-love. “On the LookOUT – for the better half” is an invitation for a mindful journey towards the authentic-self through the lenses of romantic relationships. one of those books that will change your life forever for the better by simply answering a fundamental question: “What are you #ONTHELOOKOUT for?”.
Through our collaboration, Diana conducted a research around the role of mindset – guidelines to master your mind, successful behaviours in life, creating your own to-be list. I am sure you will find the results inspiring and have them serve you as a reminder of what you can add to your daily habits of loving yourself.
Watch it now!
I know. Self-love seems silly. Writing yourself a love letter seems silly. Telling yourself, “I love you,” seems silly. But if loving yourself could help someone else in the end, why not give it a go?
“Putting your own oxygen mask shows love & care for yourself.”

Step 1
We recommend writing this letter the old-fashioned way, with paper and pen. But since we live in the digital age, feel free to write this via email or you can use a handy tool. No matter what medium you choose, you will need a quiet, private space.
Step 2
Now that you have your quiet spot and writing tool, you will need to reflect on what you like about yourself. Don’t be shy! If you have a hard time with this, choose something simple, like a physical feature, what your friends would say about you or how you always make the bed after you wake up/ wash the dishes after a meal. Those things count, too!
Step 3
Finally, it’s time to write. Begin your letter with kind words of appreciation. Look at how far you’ve come and all you’ve accomplished. Write about how you positively impact the people around you. Express attributes about yourself that you admire and work to nuture.
Remember to be gentle – Self-love takes time, patience and practice.
To a healthier and happier YOU!
